Curran Theatre - The Golden Bay Times

Christmas in Miami promises sunshine, friendship, cheesecake, and enough sarcastic remarks to stuff every stocking in Florida. The Golden Girls Live: The Christmas Episodes brings the beloved television sitcom to the stage with a delightfully outrageous holiday tribute featuring four legendary characters whose personalities clash almost as often as their opinions. Dorothy Zbornak, the sharp-tongued voice of reason, tries to maintain some semblance of order while the glamorous Blanche Devereaux pursues attention with her customary enthusiasm. Sweet, wonderfully eccentric Rose Nylund contributes her peculiar stories and innocent observations, leaving the famously blunt Sophia Petrillo ready with another devastating comeback. Together, these unforgettable roommates navigate the peculiar complications of friendship, family, romance, and Christmas celebrations, transforming everyday disagreements into theatrical comedy. Celebrating its 21st year, the production features drag performers Coco Peru as Dorothy, Matthew Martin as Blanche, D'Arcy Drollinger as Rose, and Holotta Tymes as Sophia. Their affectionate interpretations preserve the spirit of the original characters while adding an unmistakably theatrical personality to the festivities. Whether audiences remember every episode or are meeting these four women for the first time, this nostalgic holiday celebration offers a warm, mischievous invitation to spend Christmas with Miami's most entertaining household.
