Along the roughly one thousand-mile trip he becomes entangled with a group of fellow passengers, each wrestling with their own past mis-steps and hopes for reinvention. As the train rolls through coastal California, Oregon and Washington, the characters gradually connect, share fragile truths and confront the possibility that the journey itself might force them to change course.
