Rodriguez Delivers the Last Word in Cats Victory
River Cats (8) vs Las Vegas Aviators (7)

West Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento River Cats won the hard way Thursday night at Sutter Health Park, storming back again and again before finally outlasting the Las Vegas Aviators 8-7 in 11 innings. Sacramento struck first in the opening frame when Bryce Eldridge launched a two-run homer to right-center after a walk by Jesus Rodriguez, but Las Vegas refused to go quietly. The Aviators tied it in the third on Colby Thomas’ RBI single, then jumped ahead in the fourth when Drew Swift lined a run-scoring single to right. Sacramento answered in the fifth with Drew Gilbert’s solo shot and then grabbed a 4-3 lead when Will Brennan poked a run-scoring single to left with the bases loaded. Las Vegas tied it again in the sixth after Swift reached on a throwing error, and the game kept twisting from there. Victor Bericoto blasted a go-ahead homer in the eighth, only for Brian Serven to tie it in the ninth with an RBI double. In extras, Eric Haase lifted a sacrifice fly in the 10th to match Las Vegas again, then after Henry Bolte gave the Aviators a 7-6 edge with an RBI triple in the 11th, Sacramento answered one last time. A fielder’s choice tied it, and Rodriguez ripped the winning double to center to finish a wild, stubborn River Cats victory.

Cats Claw Back and Hold the Line
River Cats (5) vs Las Vegas Aviators (3)

West Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento River Cats did their loudest work in the middle innings Tuesday night at Sutter Health Park, then spent the rest of the evening hanging on like a cat on a screen door, beating the Las Vegas Aviators 5-3. For two innings, both teams tiptoed around chances, but Sacramento finally cracked the game open in the third when Nate Furman launched a solo homer to right and Jesus Rodriguez followed later in the inning with a two-run shot to left that scored Drew Gilbert for a 3-0 lead. The River Cats added another run in the fourth after Grant McCray walked, stole second, moved into scoring position, and came home on Rodriguez’s RBI single to right. Las Vegas finally answered in the fifth when Colby Thomas blasted a three-run homer to left-center, suddenly trimming Sacramento’s cushion to 4-3 and giving the game some real bite. Sacramento answered right back in the bottom half when Buddy Kennedy singled, moved up on a groundout, and scored on Osleivis Basabe’s line-drive single to center. That insurance run mattered. The Aviators put two men on in the eighth and brought the tying run to the plate, but Sacramento escaped, then closed the ninth to lock down a tense and well-earned victory.

River Cats Pull Another Rabbit Out of the Ninth and the Eleventh
River Cats (5) vs El Paso Chihahuas (4)

West Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento River Cats pulled off another late-innings escape act, edging the El Paso Chihuahuas 5-4 in 11 innings after a game that looked ready to slip away more than once. Sacramento built a 3-0 lead early, but El Paso chipped back with one run in the fifth, two in the sixth, and another in the seventh to move in front 4-3. That is when the River Cats reached for the defibrillator again. Bryce Eldridge came through with the game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, dragging Sacramento back from the brink and forcing extra innings. Two quiet frames would have made for a calmer finish, but calm clearly is not this club’s style. In the 11th, Jesus Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly that brought home the winning run and gave Sacramento its second straight 5-4 extra-inning victory over El Paso, along with a 2-1 series win. Marco Gonzales kept the Chihuahuas steady with three runs allowed in five innings, and Evan Fitterer added two scoreless relief innings with three strikeouts, but Sacramento still found the final punch. Braxton Roxby earned the win, Ethan Routzahn took the loss, and the River Cats once again proved they are stubborn as hell when the finish line gets close.

Walk-Off Chaos Lifts River Cats in Extra-Inning Thriller
River Cats (5) vs El Paso Chihahuas (4)

West Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento River Cats clawed their way through a back-and-forth battle before finally breaking through in the 10th inning for a dramatic 5-4 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas at home. Sacramento struck first in the opening frame, capitalizing on patience as three walks set the table for RBI contributions from Will Brennan’s sacrifice fly and Jake Holton’s bases-loaded walk. El Paso answered in the fourth when Nate Mondou crushed a two-run homer to tie the game, then grabbed the lead in the fifth on Anthony Vilar’s solo shot. The River Cats refused to fade, tying it in the seventh after Logan Porter’s triple sparked a rally that ended with Drew Gilbert’s RBI groundout. Both bullpens tightened from there, forcing extra innings, where El Paso briefly regained the edge on Clay Dungan’s sacrifice fly in the 10th. Sacramento had one more punch left. Buddy Kennedy ripped a game-tying double, and after a pair of walks loaded the bases, Porter delivered again, chopping a fielder’s choice that brought Kennedy home for the walk-off winner. It was a gritty, relentless performance defined by timely hitting, disciplined at-bats, and just enough chaos to keep everyone on edge until the final swing.

Fifth Inning Flood Buries River Cats Early
River Cats (3) vs El Paso Chihahuas (9)

West Sacramento, CA - For four innings, this game crept along like a quiet standoff, but the fifth inning flipped everything on its head and never looked back. Sacramento scratched first in the fourth when Grant McCray ripped a sharp RBI single to bring home Bryce Eldridge, briefly giving the River Cats a 1-0 edge. That lead didn’t survive long. El Paso stormed back in the fifth with a relentless string of hits that felt more like a batting practice session than a rally. Mason McCoy tied the game with a single, Samad Taylor followed with another to push El Paso ahead, and Sung-Mun Song delivered the knockout punch with a two-run liner to center. By the time the dust settled, the Chihuahuas had hung five runs in the inning, stretching the score to 6-1 and seizing full control. Jase Bowen added a solo homer in the seventh to keep the pressure on, while El Paso tacked on insurance late with timely hits from Jose Miranda and a sacrifice fly from Rodolfo Durán. Sacramento showed a flicker of life in the eighth with a sacrifice fly by Thomas Gavello and a groundout RBI from Nate Furman, but it was far too late. The River Cats were simply overwhelmed in one brutal inning that decided everything.
