Ten Game Recap

• TUE OCT 14, 2025 • Storm Surge Swallows the Sharks San Jose Sharks (1) vs Carolina Hurricanes (5) San Jose, CA - The Sharks started sharp behind Macklin Celebrini’s opening faceoff win and a steady first period from Alex Nedeljkovic, but Carolina wore them down and ran away 5-1. The game flipped midway through the second when Sean Walker jumped on a delayed penalty and scored, only for San Jose to punch back moments later as William Eklund buried a setup from Tyler Toffoli and Nick Leddy. From there, the Hurricanes squeezed the ice. William Carrier crashed the net for the 2-1 lead, and Eric Robinson pushed it to 3-1 late in the period. In the third, Shayne Gostisbehere threaded a point shot for 4-1 and rookie Jackson Blake finished the job for 5-1. Brandon Bussi frustrated San Jose’s best looks, turning aside chances from Jeff Skinner and Will Smith and getting help from iron when Skinner clipped the post in the first and Nikolaj Ehlers rang one in the second. Nedeljkovic battled with a heavy workload and multiple scrambles but had little margin. The Sharks’ power plays fizzled, including a third period chance after Walker was called for hooking, and Carolina owned the dots with Jordan Staal grinding out key draws. Ryan Reaves threw his weight around, Barclay Goodrow added late hits, but the Hurricanes’ layers smothered the rush and shut the door. Photo: Getty Images
• SAT OCT 11, 2025 • Overtime Heartbreaker Seals Wild Loss for Sharks San Jose Sharks (6) vs Anaheim Ducks (7) OT San Jose, CA - San Jose led three separate times but could not close, losing 4 to 3 in overtime to the Golden Knights after Reilly Smith scored at 3:36 of OT off a Shea Theodore feed. Jeff Skinner set the tone early when he hit the post, then buried one at 14:29 of the first from Ty Dellandrea and Shakir Mukhamadullin, only for Brett Howden to tie it at 11:51. The Sharks moved back in front midway through the second when Alexander Wennberg finished a power play at 13:01, set up by William Eklund and John Klingberg, but Pavel Dorofeyev answered on a Vegas power play at 5:38 to make it 2 to 2. Philipp Kurashev restored the edge at 17:01 of the third from Dmitry Orlov and Mukhamadullin, and Alex Nedeljkovic turned aside a steady run of looks from Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, and company. Vegas kept pressing, and Eichel finally solved Nedeljkovic with 1:34 left, finishing a Mark Stone touch with Tomas Hertl also credited, which forced extra time. The Sharks played heavy and generated late chances, and Akira Schmid denied Skinner and Tyler Toffoli to preserve the draw through regulation. One clean Vegas rush in overtime settled it, leaving San Jose with a single point and a lesson in game management. Photo: Getty Images
