• THU OCT 9, 2025 • Sharks Stung Late, Fall in Vegas OT (Opening Night) San Jose Sharks (3) vs Vegas Golden Knights (4) San Jose, CA - San Jose led three separate times but could not close, losing 4 to 3 in overtime to the Golden Knights after Reilly Smith scored at 3:36 of OT off a Shea Theodore feed. Jeff Skinner set the tone early when he hit the post, then buried one at 14:29 of the first from Ty Dellandrea and Shakir Mukhamadullin, only for Brett Howden to tie it at 11:51. The Sharks moved back in front midway through the second when Alexander Wennberg finished a power play at 13:01, set up by William Eklund and John Klingberg, but Pavel Dorofeyev answered on a Vegas power play at 5:38 to make it 2 to 2. Philipp Kurashev restored the edge at 17:01 of the third from Dmitry Orlov and Mukhamadullin, and Alex Nedeljkovic turned aside a steady run of looks from Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, and company. Vegas kept pressing, and Eichel finally solved Nedeljkovic with 1:34 left, finishing a Mark Stone touch with Tomas Hertl also credited, which forced extra time. The Sharks played heavy and generated late chances, and Akira Schmid denied Skinner and Tyler Toffoli to preserve the draw through regulation.
